FAQs
Halp! I am OUSA!
I gotchoo, Fam. I can’t sell to you from this web site bc I don’t have a VAT number myself and I can’t afford one of those thousand-plus dollar tax calculator plugins yet, either. BUT I have an etsy shop, and I can pop you up a custom listing for something you see that needs to go OUSA. 😀 If you want a few things please try to order them together to save the postage. I have lots of the set stuff I won’t be running out for years. <3
How do you set your prices?
Okay so for art or jewelry it’s basically how long is the process + the cost of the parts. The cabochons I make take about three days start to finish plus the shirt cost plus the settings plus the time *finding* the shirts in the first place etc etc. I basically price this stuff at what I’m willing to make it for. If no one wants to pay the price sometimes I’ll see if I can streamline any part of the process more without sacrificing quality or ask myself if I’m willing to accept less for that time if it’s a particularly zen activity putting it together, but most times I’ll just stop making that particular thing.
For shirts: This is a complicated heuristic based on how much I paid for it, how rare / hard to find it is, the condition of this particular copy, and how hard it is for me to part with it, PLUS a consideration for my time to FIND, LAUNDER, IRON, PHOTOGRAPH, LIST (IDENTIFY), PACK, and SHIP the shirt. The time I spent building this site is not included. Dean’s stuff is almost always harder to find and more expensive to buy. Finding his *non* plaids means wading through hours and hours of shirts that all look the same and it suuucks. 😀
Some of Sam’s shirts are relatively easy to find and for those when I’m hunting I try to stick to a max I’ll pay for it – and let it go by if it costs more, which is hard – so I can keep the price low. But some I see once or twice a year, or maybe only once ever, and you can bet your sweet buns if I make a craft with it or if I sell it whole you will see a reflection of how much it hurt me to do that in United States dollars. 😀
Set Shirt Stuff: Holy shit those were expensive. I only have a couple of those and I am going to charge less than I could so as many fans as possible can share in the squee, but yeah, I still need to pay off that credit card.
Can you do custom orders?
The short answer: Yes.
The Long answer: It depends. On my availability, on whether I have or can get the parts, on how hard what you’re asking for is compared to the price point. So basically yes, I can probably do it, but the question is will I – jk I probably will but you may have to wait a long time. This is my *side* bidness. I have a job that pays way better than this that always takes priority, this stuff is supposed to be for “fun.” 🙂
Can you make XYZ craft that you don’t offer?
This comes up a lot, actually. The answer is, yes, if the price point is worth my time *and* the craft sparks joy. If it doesn’t spark joy, I probably won’t do it. For example I decided I didn’t want to make headbands or hair scrunchies. I’ve phased out hair bows bc I was charging $12 on something that took me a really long time and a lot of fabric to make. I might bring them back at a higher price point.
Will you hold a shirt for me?
Yeah, probably. Once it’s up in the store I don’t have a good way to do that, but if you see me tease a pic on twitter and want me to wait until a certain day to list the item, sure, I can do that. DM me or contact me.
What brand are the shirts?
The shirts are any of the dozens of brands these credit-card scamming boys with surprisingly expensive tastes favor.
Not listing that information is a choice, not an oversight. 🙂
Okay but seriously, can you tell me what brand this one is?
Occasionally I have answered fan questions on this topic, but as a general rule I don’t divulge my brand information. Basically I didn’t spend over a decade accidentally obsessing over and hunting down and memorizing these to build a web site to tell you all my secrets. 😀 Yes of course do go find your own, I support you 1000%! But sometimes it took me literally years to find one of these or learn what brand it is, so I’m not going to shoot my side bidness in the foot by handing you my keywords after I spent SO. MUCH. TIME. Doing my own industrial espionage NO SIRREE BOB. 🙂
You’ll know the second you open the package of course, then the pig is out of the poke. But not before, not from my lips anyway. 😀 Thank you for your understanding. And pretty please understand that this is in good fun and the price of these shirts includes my time hunting them down so it would be counterproductive for me to help you find it cheaper after I already spent the time. <3
